The Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce is organizing a webinar focused on “China Logistics – Challenges and Solutions to and from China”. This webinar will take place on Thursday 4 February 2021 from 10 am to 11 am.
Can the Arctic Maritime and Silk Road routes be viable and sustainable alternatives to current ocean routes from China to Europe?
Current spot ocean tariffs on the route ex-Asia, in particular ex-China, to Europe are reaching record levels. How and why did this happen, and what can we expect in the coming months? For traders and businesses in Western Europe needing to export to, and import from, China, what are the sustainable alternatives? In this webinar, we will provide a comprehensive picture of the current status of the Arctic maritime route and a detailed update of the Silk Road option. These alternatives will be presented in visual form, supported by logistics cost simulations, which will also highlight comparable lead times and CO2 impacts.
During this webinar, Mr Pepijn De Vreese, Chief Officer International Trade at the Port of Zeebrugge, will give a presentation on the impact of container shortages on the global shipping supply chain and its impact on Zeebrugge as an emerging BRI hub, as well as on the future outlook. He will be followed by Mr Didier Duponselle, Business Unit Director Supply Chain Solutions, who will explain the current ocean spot tariffs and how costs compare with the alternative routes.
The session will be moderated by Ms. Gwenn Sonck, Executive Director, Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce.
