Plant Manager Tianjin
Betafence, develops, produces and sells fencing systems for a wide variety of applications (agricultural, residential, industrial and high security). The company’s headquarters are located in Europe and it has 11 production sites. The group employs 2,000 people and generates a turnover of €400 million. The company aims to further expand its Tianjin plant and to develop it into one of the core plants for Betafence.
The company is currently looking for a (m/f) Plant Manager Tianjin. The Plant Manager is responsible for Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Technology and Projects as well as for support functions such as Finance and HR. He/she will lead a plant of 180 employees together with a team of six managers. He/she has to make short and long term plans to increase the efficiency and profitability of the plant. He/she will ensure attainment of business objectives (KPI’s) and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will meet the company’s standards and customers’ expectations. He/she will organize and monitor daily operations in order to ensure realization of targets. In cooperation with the financial manager, he/she will follow closely certain financial parameters and the budget.
The company is looking for a technical university graduate with experience in manufacturing- technology. The successful candidate is expected to have worked/work in China, be familiar with the Chinese culture, and have minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing or supply chain with minimum 5 years management experience in an operational environment. Peter M.J. Claeys, a Belgian national, has been working in greater China since 1986. He has held various management positions for Western and Asian companies in the Netherlands, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Currently based in Taiwan, his last assignment was in Shanghai as Regional Director for a U.S. personal transportation aircraft manufacturer, for which he was in charge of business development in the Asia region. He is holding a Master degree in Oriental languages with major in Chinese from Ghent State University. He is fluent in French, Dutch, English and Chinese and is a FAA multi-engine commercial and instrument rated pilot. Chemical engineer looking for a job in China
Karel Vits, a Belgian national with a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and two postgraduate diplomas (Engineer in Industrial Management and Master of Polymer and Composites Engineering) has lived and worked in Shanghai for 12 years. He was sent to China in 1998 by his employer to start up two new chemical plants. He has many years experience as Production Manager, but also as Process Development Manager, focusing on improving existing production processes (i.e. capacity de-bottlenecking, cost reduction, product quality improvement, waste reduction). He is currently actively looking for a new professional challenge and would be much interested to help Benelux companies to set up or expand their activities in China. Karel Vits’ preference goes towards a technical or management job in the chemical or process industry, but he is open to other opportunities as well.
