Group T: How to cooperate successfully with China – Friday, March 1, 2013 – Leuven
Feb-25-2013 By : agxadmin
“China at full throttle”, “The world economy’s engine shifts to a higher gear”, “Chinese export exceeds all expectations”. A glance at newspaper headlines suffices to become aware of China’s growing importance in the world.
Group T anticipated this development when, almost 20 years ago, it started collaborating with China. The first Chinese bachelor students arrived at Vesalius Campus in 2000. That same year, Group T students visited the People’s Republic for the first time. Meanwhile, 250 Chinese students obtained an engineering diploma from Group T. By that time, over 2,500 Group T students and faculty had gotten to know the country.
The Confucius Institute at Group T asked 3 engineers to testify about their experiences during and after their time at Group T.

European companies facing Chinese trade defense instruments – 18 October 2011 – Brussels
Sep-26-2011 By : Gwenda
DS Avocats and King & Wood are organizing an event entitled “European companies facing Chinese trade defense instruments – PRC’s anti-dumping and anti subsidies policy and EU exporters’ support”. This event comes within the scope of current challenges regarding EU/China trade relations. In addition to promote and foster these relations, it aims to provide some key elements and share practical expertise on many specific trade related subjects such as antidumping remedies.
This meeting, firstly, strives to provide a relevant assessment of PRC’s trade regulation since its WTO accession in 2001, and more particularly regarding trade defense instruments regulation and policy led by the PRC compared to the one implemented and undertaken by the EC.
But it also offers an opportunity to review different aspects of trade policy issues, and in particular how a specific EC program interacts with its practical effects on stakeholders in Asia. These programs and instruments set up by the EC play a prominent role especially when it comes to actually provide support to European exporters and more particularly SMEs.
Through panel sessions the event promotes not only a better understanding of the EU-China issue, but also strives to strengthen civil society and professional organizations by raising awareness of existing mechanisms at their disposal.
Place: European Economic and Social Committee, Room TRE 7701 – Building Trèves, 74, rue de Trèves, 1040 Brussels. Time: Tuesday October 18, 2011 at 8h30. End at 12h45 with closing remarks and cocktail.
The event is organized with the support of EuroCommerce, Cefic and the European Economic and Social Committee. The event is free of charge. For more information, e-mail: helena.debacker@debacker-bastin.com
